Groomsmen Hacks

groomsmen hacks derks blogOkay, so these aren’t so much hacks as they are tips. Maybe a few hacks… Either way, you can use this as a bit of a cheat sheet for maneuvering your way through your friend’s wedding. Good luck!

  1. Be ready for anything. Anything the groom asks of you, be ready for. Chances are, you will be one of the last lines of defense for when there is an issue at a wedding as well. Often, the wedding planner (if there is one) will go to the maid of honour, bridesmaids, mother of the bride, then groomsmen before going to the groom or bride with any issues. This is why it is important for you to stay alert and ready for anything! Crashers, disasters, make sure you are ready for it all.
  2. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind, especially if you are forking out any money. That means suit/tux rentals. If you think something is too much, suggest that you continue looking around for the best price available. However, make sure you are not being a groomsman-zilla. No one likes those. As long as your groom is looking out for you, you should be set. It’s what bros do anyway, right? You should be fine.
  3. Have the entire day set aside for the groom. Often the groomsmen and groom will go out for breakfast or brunch before they start getting ready, and obviously the wedding will go well into the night, so your whole day should be set aside.
  4. Do your best to make yourself available for all of the wedding festivities. Engagement parties, bachelor parties, rehearsal dinners and post-wedding gatherings like breakfasts and gift openings.
  5. Try to be available the day/night before the wedding to help with any last minute set-up and décor. This can be anything from setting up chairs and tables to putting centerpieces together. Generally the bride and groom will buy you dinner if you help, so it is totally worth it.

This should get you through the basics of your groomsman duties! We hope this helps. If you think we missed anything, let us know!
